Fluor Daniel And Bertrams To Form Chemgineering Holding Ltd.

Fluor Daniel, Inc. and Bertrams Ltd. announced today the formation of Chemgineering Holding Ltd., a new limited liability company headquartered in Muttenz, Switzerland.

The new company will provide engineering, procurement, validation and construction management services to the pharmaceutical, biotech, and fine chemicals industry in the expanding European market, particularly Switzerland, Germany and Austria. In addition, the company will provide consulting, process development, and project execution services for laboratories as well as pilot and production plants. Financial terms of the new venture were not disclosed.

Chemgineering Holding Ltd. will be owned 45 percent by Fluor Daniel and 55 percent by Bertrams, and will be operated through two subsidiaries: Bertrams Chemgineering Ltd., Muttenz, Switzerland, and Fluor Daniel Chemgineering Ltd., Wiesbaden, Germany.

Herbert Matthys, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Chemgineering Holding Ltd., said, “The know-how of Chemgineering’s personnel combined with the global resources from both partner organizations will provide high quality, value-added services on a localized basis to our clients in this very important marketplace.”

Management of the new company will be pooled together from top Fluor Daniel and Bertrams executives and includes, Dr. Herbert Matthys, chief executive officer; Wolfgang Lenz, managing director; and Armin Mayer, Ph.D., managing director.

For the past 20 years, Fluor Daniel’s Wiesbaden, Germany, office has provided engineering, procurement and construction services to a wide range of pharmaceutical and chemical clients throughout Europe.

Bertrams Ltd. is a privately held engineering company that specializes in the design and fabrication of chemical plants. The company is headquartered in Muttenz, near Basel, Switzerland.
