Donald L. Blankenship Elected to Fluor Board of Directors

09/09/96
WEST VIRGINIA, September 9, l996 — Fluor Corporation
announced today the election of Donald L. Blankenship to
its board of directors. Blankenship, 46, is chairman and
chief executive officer of A.T. Massey, Fluor’s investment
in low-sulfur coal.
Les McCraw, Fluor chairman and chief executive officer,
said, “We are very fortunate to have Don join our board.
He will add important diversified business perspective to
our deliberations, as well as valuable expertise in the coal
industry.”
Retired Admiral Bobby R. Inman, Fluor director and chairman
of the board’s Corporate Governance Committee said, “The
addition of Mr. Blankenship is consistent with the company’s
policy of having primarily independent outside directors.
With Mr. Blankenship’s appointment, the board now
consists of three inside directors and nine from the
outside.”
Inman also said that this addition provides continuity in
anticipation of normal director retirements.
Blankenship became chairman and chief executive officer of
A.T. Massey in 1992, having served previously as president and
chief operating officer and executive vice president. Prior to
joining Massey in 1982, he served in a variety of finance and
accounting positions in the food industry, first with Central
Soya of Chattanooga, TN, then Keebler Co. of Elmhurst, IL, and
more recently with Flowers Industries of Thomasville, GA.
Fluor Corporation is a global engineering, construction and
diversified services company with an investment in low-sulfur
coal.
